What the office handles
Five things, done thoroughly.
Every case here starts and ends with the same discipline: examine first, document what the record supports, and write it so an attorney, an adjuster, and a judge all read the same conclusion. Evaluation and treatment, under one roof in Santa Ana.
How a case moves
From referral to report.
The same four steps whether the referral comes from applicant counsel, defense, or a carrier — and whether the file ends in a report, a deposition, or treatment.
Referral & records
The office receives the referral, the claim details, and the records — from the attorney, the carrier, or the injured worker directly.
Examination
A full dental and TMJ examination in Santa Ana, including objective EMG muscle testing where the injury calls for it.
The report
Findings, causation, and apportionment set out in a written report that both sides of the case can follow — and that holds up under cross-examination.
Testimony & treatment
Deposition and expert witness testimony when the case needs it — and treatment of the injury when the award provides for it.
The evaluator
An evaluator both sides of the case can trust.
For more than four decades, Dr. Peterson has evaluated and treated work-related dental and TMJ injuries for attorneys, insurance carriers, and injured workers — and he is accepting new patients for treatment of workers’ compensation injuries, including patients awarded future dental treatment.
Dr. Peterson has dedicated his career to the evaluation and treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD) and orofacial pain. He serves as a Qualified Medical Evaluator, Agreed Medical Evaluator, Independent Medical Evaluator, and expert witness in the field of TMJ and temporomandibular disorders — and has testified and reported for applicants and defense alike.
He was one of two dentists in the State of California appointed as a Subject Matter Expert in the development of the Qualified Medical Evaluator examination for dental and orofacial pain-related industrial injuries — the test every dental QME in California must pass.
